The CERT Rodeo is an annual CERT training event that draws CERT teams from Houston, Harris County and the region for a day of skill practice, team building and fun!

The East 1488 CERT participates in the Annual Harris County CERT Rodeo. The Team competes in events designed to test proficiency in the skills learned in CERT training such as triage, medical treatment, patient transport, fire suppression, evidence identification, cribbing, size-up, and haz-mat identification.
Teams must size up an accident site from a distance, document hazards as well as the number and location of victims.
Tower gives CERT members experience in searching a multi-story burn building in the dark.
Search and Rescue Team organizes and prepares to begin the search in the tower. The event is timed.
At the end of the Rodeo, all participating CERT Teams gather to receive their scores.
Team members must triage, treat and transport survivors using a chair, backboard and blanket in a timed event.
Team members must extricate a person trapped under a 2 ton block of concrete using cribbing skills. The event is timed.
